Super Bowl LVIII Takes Place in Las Vegas with a Stage at Bellagio and Associated Road Closures

Quick Intro

With less than 50 days remaining, Las Vegas is gearing up for its first-ever Super Bowl! Super Bowl LVIII will transform Allegiant Stadium on Feb. 11 into the epicenter of the NFL, symbolizing both a literal and metaphorical invasion of the city.

The Super Bowl represents the pinnacle of the NFL season and consistently ranks as the year's most-watched television event. Preparations for this massive event are extensive, encompassing a full week of activities and attractions for visitors. This includes numerous official NFL events for Super Bowl LVIII week, announced earlier in the year.

Corporate sponsors are also launching their Super Bowl week festivities. Maxim's annual Super Bowl party is on the agenda, and Caesars is set to host a Guy Fieri Flavortown Tailgate event near The Linq’s High Roller. Fans worldwide will also engage with Super Bowl content via TV, radio, podcasts, and social media.

The main event will take place at Allegiant Stadium, strategically located just off the Vegas Strip, opposite Mandalay Bay. The Vegas Strip, still recovering from the Novebmber Las Vegas Grand Prix (LVGP) F1 race, is bracing for new changes as 2024 approaches.

CBS Sports Broadcast Stage at Bellagio Las Vegas Fountains

A key highlight will be CBS Sports using the Bellagio fountains as a broadcast stage, causing disruptions in the area. Starting early January, pedestrian and vehicle traffic will be affected near the casino. However, the disruption won't be as extensive as during the LVGP.

KLAS's renderings show a broadcast stage akin to the 2022 NFL Draft stage, occupying less space than the Bellagio Fountain Club during the LVGP.

Patty Power, CBS's executive vice president of operations and engineering, revealed that the stage will feature 18 TV shows like “The Talk”, “Entertainment Tonight”, and “The Drew Barrymore Show” during the Super Bowl week. CBS is set to deliver “thousands of hours of live television” from this location.

Construction of the stage is scheduled to start on Jan. 3, with dismantling expected to take a week post-Super Bowl, returning the area to normal by Feb. 16. Traffic disruptions, including lane closures, and altered pedestrian paths on the west side of the Vegas Strip, are anticipated.

Super Bowl Road Closures Near Allegiant Stadium Anticipated

Given the Super Bowl's high-security status from the Department of Homeland Security, it'll take around a month to implement all security measures for the event.

Navigating the vicinity of Allegiant Stadium will become increasingly challenging as Super Bowl week nears, with several road closures planned from Jan. 8, as reported by KSNV:

  • Allegiant Stadium Way and Al Davis Way to the north will be entirely closed from Jan. 8 to Feb. 15.
  • Hacienda Avenue will be fully shut between Mandalay Bay and Valley View Boulevard from Jan. 27 to Feb. 15.
  • Dean Martin Drive will see a partial closure from Jan. 18 to Feb. 7, escalating to a full closure until Feb. 15.
  • Polaris Avenue will undergo partial closure between Ali Baba Lane and Russell Road from Jan. 16 to Feb. 9, then completely closed until Feb. 15.
  • Luxor Drive, west of Luxor, will be entirely closed from Feb. 10 to Feb. 12.

To facilitate movement during these closures, hundreds of buses and shuttles will be operational to transport individuals involved with the Super Bowl.

Final Thoughts

As Las Vegas prepares for Super Bowl LVIII, the city is buzzing with excitement and extensive preparations. From the spectacular broadcast stage at the Bellagio fountains to the comprehensive road closures around Allegiant Stadium, these efforts reflect the magnitude of hosting such a prestigious event. Amidst the anticipation, residents and visitors alike should brace for significant changes, ensuring a memorable and smoothly executed Super Bowl experience.
